What is Taza?

Taza means "fresh" in Arabic, which is exactly what our food is. Egyptian and Egyptian-inspired cuisine, made fresh every day from whole, clean ingredients with no preservatives! Tim and Hala serve their fresh Egyptian cuisine with beef and chicken options that are all certified halal (raised Tayyib - all natural diet, no hormones or antibiotics, and humanely treated), as well as several naturally vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free main dishes, sides, and desserts! You can find their unique food at the truck by clicking on the 'truck locator' link or contact us for catering and special events - Taza will come to you! You can also enjoy Taza year-round in our location The Taza Stop inside the Easton Public Market in downtown Easton PA - open Wednesday through Sunday with a more expanded menu and daily specials!

So what is Egyptian cuisine?

Egyptian history is over 7000 years old and has seen many cultural changes and influences! Egyptian cuisine is a unique blend of Middle Eastern food, like taameya (Egyptian felafel), shawarma, hummus, along with the many cultures and spices of Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa. The chef/owners bring you the tastes of Egypt in fresh and healthy recipes that have been handed down through the family from Nana Hannah, the matriarch of the family. Much of Egyptian food is naturally vegetarian and gluten free also. And the food is clean - made from only whole ingredients with NO preservatives!

Who are the owners?

Hala and Tim were university professors and administrators for years. So why would these Ph.D.s want to open a restaurant? It's a simple answer really! They're passionate about creating a unique culinary experience and sharing these fresh-made healthy options with people searching for something different. Tim and Hala have traveled to over 40 countries learning about the great tastes from all over the world, and Tim also grew up in his parents' restaurants as a kid learning how to cook and manage successful restaurants. Hala ran a successful business in Egypt and has been cooking her mother's traditional Egyptian-inspired recipes for over 30 years. This combination of world culinary experiences and a passion for providing simple fresh, preservative-free cuisine inspired them to start Taza, and it will bring you back to Taza again and again.
